Ippolita Rostagno brings her twenty-two year old brand back to her Italian roots with the opening of her flagship at Via Monte Napoleone 23 Milan in the glorious neoclassical grandeur of Palazzo Gavazzi.
Born in Florence to an Italian father and American expat artist mother, Ippolita is both proud of and defined by her origins. Hers is an American brand, but thoroughly shaped by the Italian reverence for and skill in craft, artistry, and design – pillars of her aesthetic credo.
Through the courtyard off via Monte Napoleone, one enters the space through the arched galleria that runs from the courtyard to via Bigli. Each side of the galleria is hung from floor to ceiling with an installation of objects: reliquary, memento mori – personal treasures of Ippolita’s, both found and made.
This space is our answer to the rich challenge of honoring the beautiful bones of the palazzo designed by Luigi Clerichetti while creating a unique experience for guests: closer to a museum visit than a shopping expedition. In addition to removing the traditional barriers found in luxury environments, we invite the visitor on a journey through the inspiration and influences that inform the design of the jewelry.
